RYDAL AIR - artist in residence

Rydal Design Center is situated in an old cotton mill from 1853 in the small village of Rydal in the municipality of Mark, Sweden. The factory building has a well preserved charm that blends into its surroundings’ by the river that cuts through the village. The village of Rydal houses a 1950’s style café, a hotel in the old manor building, a hostel, an arts and crafts shop, a conference centre and a museum focusing on textile heritage.

The Rydal Design Center Residency Program’s objective is to offer a creative environment that is inspiring and encourages innovation. The premises are excellent for creating dialogue and supporting cooperation between artists and interchange between their disciplines. We give the artists the opportunity to develop and really focus on their work during a concentrated period of time.

CONDITIONS
Artists from all disciplines active nationally or internationally are welcome. Not yet established creators and artists are encouraged to apply. Each artist has access to a small studio and next to it shares a big multi-functional space/studio. The housing offered is single rooms with shared kitchen, sitting room and communal bathrooms located at the hostel within short walking distance from the studio and workshop area.
